The short version. SkipCount uses your camera to count jumps. The video is analysed on your device, in the moment, and is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. There is no account and no advertising. The app sends anonymous usage statistics, such as which screens were reached and how many jumps a workout counted, tied to a random number made when you install it, never to you. We cannot see you or your home.

What the camera is used for

While a workout is running, the app reads frames from the camera and uses Apple's on-device body pose detection to find the position of your hips and shoulders. From the way those points move it counts landings. The frames exist only for the fraction of a second it takes to analyse them and are then discarded. No image or video is ever written to storage, shown to anyone, or transmitted.

You can revoke camera access at any time in the iOS Settings app. The app cannot count jumps without it, but everything else keeps working.

What stays on your device

All of this is written to the app's private storage area on your device. It is not uploaded, it is not synced to a server, and deleting the app removes it permanently. You can also erase it from inside the app under Settings → Erase all data.

Apple Health

If you turn on Add workouts to Health in Settings, SkipCount writes each finished session to the Health app on your device as a jump rope workout: its start and end time, its duration, its calorie estimate and its jump count. Turning the setting on also adds the sessions you had already recorded, so your Health history matches the app's.

SkipCount only writes. It never asks to read anything out of Health, so it cannot see your steps, your heart rate or anything else stored there. Health data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, under Apple's control, not ours. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app, under Sharing → Apps, and turning the setting off stops any further writing. Workouts already added to Health stay there until you delete them in Health.

Nothing in Health is used for advertising, and none of it is sent anywhere by this app.

What leaves your device

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are made through Apple and the App Store. We never see your name, payment details or Apple Account. After Apple confirms a purchase, the app also sends that receipt to RevenueCat, the service we use to keep track of subscriptions and refunds. RevenueCat receives which plan was bought, when, at what price, and a random customer number; nothing that identifies you.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand which parts of the app help people and where they get stuck, the app sends short usage events to our own analytics service. An event says what happened, for example that the onboarding reached the goal question and 200 jumps a day was picked, that the paywall was shown and closed, or that a workout finished with 312 jumps in 4 sets over 3 minutes. Each event carries a random number created when the app is installed, the app version, the iPhone or iPad model, the iOS version and language, and the country from your device's region setting. Your location is never looked up: the IP address is not used to work out where you are, and it is not stored.

Events never contain the camera image, the skeleton drawing, the name you type, anything from Apple Health, your Apple Account or any way to contact you. They are not used for advertising, not sold, and not combined with data from other companies' apps.

Nothing else

The app contains no advertising library and no crash reporter, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Children

SkipCount does not collect personal information from anyone, including children: the usage statistics above are anonymous. It is suitable for all ages.

Changes

If the way the app handles data ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Because there is no account, we have no way to contact you directly, so this page is the record.
